GUIDE Project: Case Study Methodology for Guidance Practitioners Training

GUIDE Sdr2Within the framework of GUIDE! “Good Guidance Stories” project, two training workshops aimed to guidance practitioners were carried out in Santander.

On the 21st and 25th March 2013 we worked with two heterogeneous groups of guidance practitioners on the “recognize and respond to clients diverse needs” competence through the case studies methodology.

Within the first stage of GUIDE! European project, the main competences to work as guidance practitioner were identified through a survey which was filled in by professionals from Germany, Spain, Finland, Italy, Ireland and Hungary. Then, in the second phase, six case studies were developed. Each of them is based on the six competences identified as the most important ones by the professionals participating in the survey.

New Online Tool to Assess Quality on VET Organizations

CQAF Atenas2In early March, Javier Farto, President of Documenta, attended the transnational meeting of “CQAF-VET online model" project in Athens. The project aims to develop an online tool to provide practitioners and entities that perform their work in the field of Education and Training with a quality model, under the same principles, standards and evaluation criteria in the European framework.

This online tool is based on a model of quality assurance on a previous project (CQAF-VET.- Common Quality Assurance FrameworkVET), which is being tested and adapted to European diversity, in order to achieve an accessible and effective instrument for self-assessment of VET providers.

CQAF online-VET is funded with the support of the European Commission, Lifelong Learning Programme, Leonardo Da Vinci initiative, the promoter project is Folkuniversitetet Uppsala (Sweden) and participate as partners DIMITRA (Greece), REVALENTO (Netherlands), the Agency Swedish National European, MMC Management Centre Ltd (Cyprus) and Documenta (Spain).

Documenta Participated in Transnational Conference on Learning Cities and Intelligent Territories in Timisoara (Romania)

Getir Timisoara 1Javier Farto, president of Documenta (European Institute of Studies for Training and Development), presented a paper on Intelligent and Responsible Territories, in the framework of a seminar entitled “European Manager of Intelligent and Responsible Territories-A new professional profile for the local sustainable agents”, which took place the 18th December 2012 in the city of Timisoara (Romania), in the Council Hall headquarters of Timis County.

Given the rapid pace of urbanization, cities are taking increasing responsibilities around the formulation of policies and the provision of opportunities for lifelong learning. In this regard, Timisoara has been long committed to the application of the principles of "Learning City", with a view to its nomination as European Capital of culture in 2020. To face this challenge, it has the support of local and regional institutions such as the University of Vest or the Romanian Institute of adult education (IREA).

Age Work Balance: Time For Dissemination

AWB FINAL 8The proportion of older workers in the European Union will increase in the coming decades. The trends of the working population in the EU-27 suggest that the age group from 55 to 64 years will increase by 16.2% (9.9 million) between 2010 and 2030. Population ageing is one of the most important aspects of the future of European societies. Therefore, it is essential to boost the integration of older people into sustainable employment and the implementation of effective employment measures addressed to older unemployed and especially to long-term unemployed aged 50+.

Seeking the successful activation and integration of older long-term unemployed into sustainable employment, the European project Age – Work – Balance: Balanced Approaches for an Ageing Workforce in Metropolitan Areas examined measures, programmes and projects which target people above the age of 50 in metropolitan areas (Graz, Berlin, Hamburg, Santander, Dublin) in order to identify approaches that have proven successful in integrating older people into the labour market, and to discover the common factors that determine the best balanced relationship between a particular approach and the ‘network-structure’ in which the practice is embedded.
