Age Management Towards Sustainaible Employment

AWB2SantWebAge Work Balance European project arises from the deep conviction that integration into sustainable employment of the long-term unemployed aged 50 + will promote the long term financial maintenance of the European social models. This project is based on the belief that active participation combined with adequate job opportunities will allow people to live a longer and healthier life while developing their own potential.

Documenta, European Institute for Training and Development Studies, is actively participating to achieve Age Work Balance project aim, the study of successful practices, variables and networks for the integration of older long-term unemployed into the labour market in metropolitan areas, so these can be implemented and transversally considered within European policies.  

In order to reach Age Work Balance project objective the participating organizations are analyzing 7 existing measures located in 7 European cities: Dublin, Tampere, Berlin, Hamburg, Santander, London and Vienna.

AMICA: A Fruitful Learning Experience

LLL1The 21st and 22nd of May Documenta, European Institute for Training and Development Studies organized a study visit to AMICA headquarters and to its Training and Employment Centers Entorno and Marisma in Cantabria, as part of the experience exchange activities planned by the Local LLL Power - Grundtvig Learning Partnership.

The Grundtvig Learning Partnership focuses on the empowerment of local people through lifelong learning strategies as a method within the local employment development (LED). This subject is approached through the exchange of experience in empowerment methods by means of lifelong learning approaches. AMICA organization proved to be a great model on the empowerment of people with disabilities through lifelong learning strategies in the region of Cantabria.

AMICA study visit was hosted by Sagrario Cagigas, President of Amica, Tomás Castillo, Managing Director and Paquita Gómez, Quality and Communication Manager of the organization together with Carmen Narváez, Fidel Fernández, and Marta Tresgallo among many other professionals part of AMICA’s team. They shared AMICA’s initiative, values, training methodologies and structure with the European Grundtvig Learning Partners within the MetropolisNet EEIG: Lawaetz-Stiftung (Hamburg), CIOFS-FP (Rome and Tuscany), Documenta (Santander), ZSI(Vienna), Gemeente Emmen (Emen), gsub Projektegesellschaft (Berlin).

Discussion and Reflection on Water Management and Development Cooperation during the International Days of “Water, Development and Citizenship”

Agua2Organizations and professionals from Ecuador, Bolivia, Colombia, Italy and Spain participated in the event.

“Water, Development and Citizenship” Days organized by Documenta on May 18th and 19th in Noja, had a great success of participation and were rated as excellent by both guests and organizations that attended to Centro de Ocio Playa Dorada, venue in which the event took place.

During the event, knowledge and outlooks were exchanged from academic, governmental and civil society fields, as well as foundations for future collaborations among participating organizations were laid.

Discussion and reflection between water sector experts and cooperation sector ones were one of the most striking points of the event. During the sessions, several projects implemented by different organizations, such as Fondo del Agua of AECID, the Cantabrian Government through CIMA, Alianza por el Agua, ECODES, Water Assessment and Advisory Global Network (WASA-GN), Fundación Nueva Cultura del Agua, Fundación Futuro Latinoamericano and Documenta, were presented.

transnational meeting of GETIR project in Bulgaria

porGetirThe third transnational meeting of GETIR project –European Manager of Intelligent and Responsible Territories– took place in Sofia (Bulgaria) on the 14th and 15th May 2012.

GETIR project seeks to create a professional profile of an Intelligent and Responsible Territories Manager, responding to the demand in the local development sector in the European market. In order to achieve this, GETIR partners are working on the development of an online training tool which will have five thematic areas that a GETIR Manager must domain:
1. Local Sustainable Development.
2. Social Capital.
3. Governance, Social Participation and Empowerment.
4. Knowledge Management and Social Territorial Responsibility.
5. New Technologies.
