The Comanity Hub – a knowledge space for Community Animateurs

The Comanity project aims to support the rise of a new profile in youth work related to social inclusion of marginalized youth – the Community Animateur – foresees an integrated set of actions to reach such an ambitious objective. Among these, the planned and implemented online activities and tools such as the Comanity Hub play a crucial role in guaranteeing wide access and further interaction of youth workers on social inclusion and youth matters.

The Comanity Hub is a virtual environment where learning, interaction, knowledge creation and knowledge sharing are possible. It goes together with the e-learning platform, where COMANITY training programme is currently being piloted to provide a positive, knowledge-enriching experience to its users with the possibility to read or share post, articles or multimedia resources with other youth workers in the EU. Whereas the online course of Comanity is currently being tested and therefore not accessible to the wider public (will be so very soon, towards the end of 2019), the Comanity Hub is open for anyone interested, to be searched, explored, used and enriched.

ICT for Adult Educators

StepUp Cover SP“ICT for Adult Educators” handbook is aiming to stimulate the use of digital technologies in practice.

This is a result of the StepUp2ICT project, focused on building the ICT capacity of adult educators in their specific occupational context. It is mainly focused on training and workplace practices and aims for impact on the awareness of strategic and operational inclusion of the potential of technology for learning by adult education provider organizations.

The present handbook is not a text-book, academic work or a book that addresses the ICT skills curriculum. It is created to help every adult educator to use e-learning methods, tools and techniques from the planning phase to the evaluation of participants’ learning phase.

Adult Educators’ Beliefs About Their ICT Competencies and Their Professional Use of ICTs

As part of valorisiation/dissemination of StepUp project, we are proud to share a research based on the project (and other frameworks), that was presented at the 2019 Edmedia + Innovate Learning Conference in Amsterdam by Yashtee Gowreea and Koen DePryck Vrije from the Universiteit Brussel (Belgium), Institute of Knowledge Management (Belgium).

StepUpNewsThe use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has become an integral part of our society and a basic competency for learners and thus also for educators. This paper presents findings on adult educators’ use of ICT in different aspects of teaching and training and reports on their perception of their ICT competencies. A questionnaire based on the EU DigCompEdu framework for digital competence of educators (looking at ICT in educators’ professional competencies, in their pedagogic competencies and in their effect on learners’ ICT competencies) and on the questionnaire developed by the EU-funded consortium StepUp2ICT for adult educators looking at the use of ICT in different phases of their work (planning and coordination of teaching, assessing learners needs, training design, developing content, training delivery and the evaluation of training) was used to collect data from in-service teachers at a Center for Adult Education in Flanders (Belgium). Qualitative results from this survey indicate that adult educators are making use of ICT in different aspects of their professional activities but remain mostly within their comfort zone and only marginally explore new ICT tools and competencies. A more (pro)active professional development is called for.

The fourth transnational meeting of the Mingle project was held in Santander

On June 27 and 28, the partners of the Mingle project held the fourth transnational meeting in the city of Santander. Two days of work to plan future actions within the project.

The partners from Cyprus, Greece, Sweden and Germany came to Santander to participate in this event in which they reviewed the activities already implemented and defined the strategies to follow to achieve the objectives proposed in the project. In addition, a practical workshop was held to determine the next actions within the Mentoring phase and the HTM platform (How-to-Mingle).
