InCommon, cultural interventions on Cultural Citizenship Scale

InCommonLI13The InCommon project has developed a Cultural Citizenship Scale (CCS) as part of the individual guidance methodology for the social integration of migrant women through culture and education in the host society.

One of the objectives of the project is to implement the CCS on the field and for this aim DOCUMENTA has carried out ten local interventions covering all stages of the CCS. The interventions began in October 2019 and will end in January 2020. They all has taken place in the city of Santander, Cantabria.

The migrant women participating in the InCommon project decided what kind of activities they wanted to do as a result of the discussions in previous activities of the project. In some activities the women themselves organised and managed the intervention –those in level 3 and 4 of the CCS, and in other occasions they were supported by DOCUMENTA and EAPN Cantabria –women in levels 1 and 2.

Call for interest and participation

As the COMANITY project is coming to its end and because it was such a great and successful programme, we want to give it a legacy. That’s why we are launching this call for interest and participation.

  • What is it?

The COMANITY programme is a unique blended programme for youth workers and volunteers working with disadvantaged young people (NEETS, at-risk behaviours, substance misuse, offenders, mental health difficulties, socio-economic barriers and others), to enhance their competences in empowering young people in their community.

See the project’s Brochure here to have a summary of the project.

The COMANITY programme includes: a competence framework which defines the skills that community animateurs must develop to fulfil at best their role, a training programme to learn about those competences, a self-assessment tool to assess these competences, an online knowledge space, the “COMANITY HUB” and participatory action-research methodologies to implement and evaluate the programme.

COMANITY: Youth, participation and community action

COMANITY 1On December 18th, from 17:00 onwards at the “Espacio Joven” of Santander City Hall, there will be an event “Youth, participation and community action” during which the results that have been obtained in Spain within the Comanity project, which aimed at training community animateurs, will be presented. One of the main objectives of the COMANITY project has been to develop a new profile regarding volunteering and youth work: the Community Animateur, which acts as a “social mediator” in order to reduce the separation between the young people who feel marginalised and the institutions. The project has had a double purpose: get the youth services to become more committed with young people at risk situation and, on the other hand, allow these young people to take part in the youth work.
