Last week, the partners of the Erasmus+ project “SustainTour: Capacity Building of VET providers in the Sustainable Tourism” met in Tirana (Albania) for the second transnational meeting and a brainstorming workshop aimed at identifying the competence areas (EQF – European Qualifications Framework) that will shape the training programme for the new professional profile of “Sustainable Tourism Advisor” for the Western Balkans. Over three days, the eight partners from Albania, Kosovo, Greece, Cyprus, and Spain exchanged ideas and proposals for the definition and organisation of the project’s upcoming actions.

Throughout the three-day gathering, the project consortium reviewed the actions carried out so far and defined the future activities to be implemented, particularly those related to the design of the training programme that will lead to the creation of a new professional profile in Albania and Kosovo, referred to as “Sustainable Tourism Advisor.”

In addition, the eight partner organisations from the five participating countries took an active part in the brainstorming workshop, where the competences based on the EQF were analysed and selected. These competences will shape the training curriculum and support the development of a new specialised professional profile in Sustainable Tourism for the Western Balkans.

The project focuses on strengthening links between the tourism labour market and VET providers, promoting better alignment of skills, developing capacities in sustainable tourism, and integrating social, ecological, and digital competences into tourism-related VET curricula.
